I started a Podcast in 2020, it is about life, talking with and learning from people; last week, I have interview Gulnaz K. talking about so many topics, learning from Gulnaz K..’s expertise in the fashion industry; here are some highlights from the episode

Garment size is a big problem.

I consider my self minimalist when it comes to fashion, I know my size, and I am not complicated when it comes to what I put on (T-Shirt and jeans).

I have learned that size is a big deal, and each brand size chart is different; not only that, people choice of how to wear their garments also affects the size, for example, if someone like to wear their T-Shirts on top of a tank-top, it affects the size somehow.

Why is it a problem, especially now? Given the current state of the planet (COVID), people now learn toward e-commerce as it is more convenient for the current situation; what happens is people order multiple pieces with different sizes, then return the rest; this is not good on so many levels, it starts with user satisfaction and ends with considerable impact on sustainability.

Easysize solves this problem by having a plugin that can be used by e-commerce websites; the plugin asks the user couple of questions that lead to very close size, my understanding that the solution is working and Easysize is growing (Check the episode to learn more)

FemTech is on the rise

Gulnaz K. talked about her investments in the area of FemTech; I didn’t know about that domain, and the glimpse Gulnaz gave enlightened me about it, I think there is a huge potential, it has many implications on so many things, as it seems there is a move toward re-revaluating the knowledge around the area of human health, there will be a tailored products and solution specifically for women, which means there is a big room for improvement on what we have now form human health aspect.

Managing life and mental health

Gulnaz K. also talked about how she manages her mental health; my takeaway from her advice is to take care of my self, have closures for pending conflicts, delegate the things that someone else can do (Maybe hire a personal assistant).

Fashion industry impacts the plant

One of the gold nuggets that I got was to know that the garment industry is the second most polluter after oil. Gulnaz K. also told me about how she buys second hand and use it as part of being aware consumer, giving life to a piece of garment, and save the planet a cost of a new one

One of the amazing things about the Podcast, I had a chance to connect back to old friend, I really enjoyed talking With Gulnaz K. and it was sort of educational experience as I have never talked that much about her startup with her.
